- 1 large apple
- 1 large pear
- 1 1/2 cup oatmeal (Quick 1 Minute Oats)
- 3 cups water
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- brown sugar (optional)
- maple syrup (optional)
- pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Peel the apple and pear. Dice it into 1/4 inch cubes. Reserve a quarter of the diced apple and pear, set aside. Place the rest of the apple and pear into a steamer and steam for 15 minutes.
- When the fruit is almost cooked, start on the oatmeal. Place oatmeal and water into a saucepan on medium heat. Add cinnamon and nutmeg, stir. Boil for 2-3 minutes and place 1/3 (about 1 cup) into a tall container and split the rest between two bowls.
Baby food
- Add the steamed apples and pears to the tall container with the oatmeal. Blend with a hand/immersion blender until smooth. Thin it out with breastmilk, formula or water to you desired consistency. Spoon the puree into an ice cube tray and freeze. Thaw in fridge overnight or place cubes into a bowl and microwave in 20 second increments, stirring in between until warm.
Adults
- Top the oatmeal with the reserved cubed apple and pear. Top with brown sugar, maple syrup and nuts. Enjoy while warm!
