Las Cabos Travel Guide

Disclaimer: Many thanks to Aero and Flora Farms for hosting my family, and as usual – all opinions are my own!

I have always wanted to go down to Baja California/ Cabo! The idea of being surrounded by beautiful blue water just got me giddy! Recently I partnered with Aero, a semi-private jet company, to fly down to Cabo and we had the most relaxing vacation! It’s a great family-friendly vacation spot and there is so much to do if you don’t want to do a typical all-incusive resort-style vacation! Here is my quick weekend getaway itinerary.

Where to stay in Cabos:

We stayed at the Hacienda de La Mar Resort in Cabo San Lucas for around $700 for 3 nights. It has 5 pools, hot tubs, multiple restaurants, a private beach, a kids center, and tons of activities. We didn’t get the all-inclusive package since we planned on going out for dinner most nights.

We did enjoy our lunches at the Sirenas bar and I highly recommend their quesadilla and veggie tacos! The quesadilla is made with locally made cheese!

The beach there is fairly rough so I wouldn’t swim in it, however, during low tides, it’s pretty nice and they do have lifeguards on the beach just in case. The rooms were clean, big, and super airy. The entire resort has a vibrant jungle vibe and the architecture is just gorgeous.

The service was was wonderful and I can not recommend this place enough! There are so many spots for Instagram-worthy photos!

It’s not in the city area and is in a more private quiet location which I enjoyed. You can easily take an Uber to the downtown Cabo which costs about $6-10.

What to do in Cabos:

There are tons of water activities you can do in Cabos. You can find snorkeling, scuba diving, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing and so much more. Unfortunately, not a lot of those activities work with a 6-year-old. So instead we spent a lot of time at the hotel swimming and playing. The one activity we did do was going on an hour-long glass boat ride with Envatours. The boat is made of clear plastic so you can see all the fish in the water. Elara LOVED this. This is a great activity to do if you have really little ones or older parents who need a more relaxed adventure. We saw sea lions catching rays on some of the rock islands and of course the famous Los Cabos arch. The boat takes off the marina in downtown Cabos, so afterward you can walk around. There are a lot of little shops and bars mostly in that area.

Where to eat in Cabos:

Okay now, this was my favorite part of Cabos. The food! The number one spot people told me to check out was Flora Farm, a farm in the middle of the desert that has a massive farm-to-table restaurant, small shops on-site, and more. I think you could easily spend a whole day here. They do farm tours, cooking classes, and special events. We didn’t have time to do a farm tour but I do recommend doing it if you go. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time as this place books up fast. The menu was super vegetarian and vegan-friendly.

This place blew my mind. They have done an amazing job creating a really funky fun atmosphere. The decor and live music give this place such a fun vibe. It’s definitely a spot that would be fun to go to celebrate a special occasion.

The best part is that they have a playground on-site! During our meal, Elara got a bit antsy so she went and played while Rhut and I finished our meal in peace. We really enjoyed the kale and strawberry salad, the burrata, and pizza. They plate their dishes like art and every dish tastes so fresh and vibrant!

Another place that is similar in philosophy is El Huerto, which is also a farm-to-table restaurant. The look of the space is very contemporary, sleek, and clean. They have a similar menu to Flora Farms with fresh pizzas, pasta, salads, and more.

I suggest going here for dinner as the sunset here is unreal! Go a little early to enjoy the space, take pictures, play cornhole and walk through the farm. They also have a small playground on-site as well! Order the tomato soup and the carrot cake!

The final spot to go to is Los Tres Gallos which is in downtown Cabos. It serves authentic Mexican cuisine in a bright and colorful setting. If you go for dinner, bring a jacket or scarf as it got windy and chilly in the evening. They have lots of vegetarian options.

The salsas here were our favorites- they weren’t too spicy so Elara got to enjoy them as well. We tried the gorditas filled with huitlacoche (corn fungus) and squash blossoms. I love huitlacoche, it has a nutty umami flavor that is definitely an acquired taste.

We has had churros and pan de elote (corn cake) for dessert. I HIGHLY recommend the corn cake dessert. It comes with a Abuelitas chocolate ice cream and it really is the most wonderful way to enjoy corn as a dessert.

Quick 3-day Itinerary:

Day 1: Spend time at the hotel and swim, lunch at Sirena’s bar at the hotel, evening at Los Tres Gallos for dinner

Day 2: Spend morning and lunch at the hotel (swim, do a cooking demo, hit the hot tub, or read a book on the beach), dinner at Flora Farms

Day 3: Take the glass bottom boat ride in the morning, grab lunch at The Office or any spot along the marina, go to the hotel and relax and then go to El Huerto for dinner

I know it was a lot of time spent at the hotel. We really took it easy this vacation! If you want to see my trip, check out my IG highlight for Cabos
