After I shared my Pani Puri Dense Bean Salad on Instagram, I was blown away by the response. Y’all loved it! So I knew I had to follow it up with another chaat-style remix. This time I’m leaning into Dahi Papdi Chaat vibes, with a cooling spiced yogurt base, crunchy papdi, and all the toppings.

To up the protein, I swapped in Clover Sonoma Pasture Raised Organic Greek Nonfat Plain Yogurt. It’s thick, creamy, and has 22g of protein per serving! Paired with fiber-rich beans and chickpeas, this salad is not only delicious, but it’ll actually keep you full.

Dahi Papdi Dense Bean Salad (High Protein + High Fiber Chaat-Inspired Recipe)


Description

A high-protein, high-fiber twist on Indian chaat! This Dahi Papdi Dense Bean Salad is packed with creamy yogurt, chickpeas, veggies, and crunchy toppings.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • two (14 oz) cans chickpeas
  • 1/2 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1 persian cucumber, chopped
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 23 tbsp jalapeno or serrano pepper, finely diced (or to taste)
  • 1/3 cup puri/papdi. roughly crushed

Dahi dressing

  • 3/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp apple butter (or tamarind paste)
  • 3/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black salt
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp amchur (dried mango powder)
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp honey or agave, or your choice of sweetener


Instructions

In a large bowl, add all the salad ingredients.

In a small bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients. Taste and adjust the salt, sugar, and spice to your preference. Drizzle over the salad and toss until well combined.
